PLEASE NOTE: During the COVID-19 crisis, walk-in HIV/STI and testing is available by appointment only. PEP must be taken within 72 hours of an exposure to be effective. PrEP Clinic is available through video and audio telehealth appointments to help folks start and stay on PrEP, the daily pill that can prevent HIV that is transmitted through sex. PEP is a 28-day course of medication which should be used only in emergency situations and must be started within 72 hours after a recent possible exposure
to HIV. If you think you’ve recently been exposed to HIV during sex or through sharing needles and works to prepare drugs or if you’ve been sexually
assaulted, please walk in to see us right away and we will help.
You can access PEP at Whitman-Walker Health at three of our locations during the following specified days/times:
Please bring proof of insurance when seeking PEP at Whitman-Walker Health. If you do not have health insurance or have insurance that we do not accept,
there is a $150 fee for the visits and necessary blood tests. You will be provided with a receipt for the service which you can submit for reimbursement
in the case we don’t take your insurance.The cost of medication is not included in the $150 fee.During the visit we will work with you to find the
most affordable way to pay for the medication and help apply for the medication at a reduced or little cost if this is possible based on your income.
