An Upscale Event Rental and Community Gathering Space
in the Heart of Washington, DC
Washington, DC – July 25, 2022 – Whitman-Walker and Reid Rodell are thrilled to announce the official launch of The Corner at Whitman-Walker – a gorgeous new event rental and community gathering space at LIZ in the heart of one of DC’s most popular and trendy neighborhoods. The launch will include an industry evening on Tuesday, July 26th from 5pm to 8pm and a community day on Saturday, July 30th from 12pm to 3pm for the local community and non-profits to tour the space.
Originally, The Corner was the entrance and lobby of the Whitman-Walker Clinic which served LGBTQ and HIV positive community members who needed a place to receive stigma-free care and treatment while in some cases facing their own deaths due to the AIDS epidemic. Transformed by architect Annabelle Selldorf and rechristened by Whitman-Walker, the former clinic lobby now serves as a vital location for diverse cultures and communities to celebrate, congregate and gather.
“We’re delighted to partner with Reid Rodell on this exciting new chapter of The Corner” says Abby Fenton, Chief External Affairs Officer at Whitman-Walker. “This gorgeous space allows us to introduce Whitman-Walker to hundreds of new folx while also helping to support our mission through event rentals.”
Rental proceeds will support Whitman-Walker’s operations. Capacity for The Corner at Whitman-Walker is 125 guests. Reid Rodell will offer a full range of events management services. Rates vary depending on date, equipment and event management needs as well as time needed in the space. Non-profit groups receive a 20% discount on rental fees.
