Hello! This is Whitman-Walker writing with exciting news! We will open the new Max Robinson Center on August 14th! The new center is located at 1201 Sycamore Drive SE on the St. Elizabeths East campus. The center is located less than two blocks from the Congress Heights Metro stop.

The current Max Robinson Center, located on MLK Avenue SE, will close to patient care at the end of the day on August 10th. If you have an appointment scheduled on or after August 14th 2023, your appointment will take place at the new center in Congress Heights.

At the new location, you will find the same great faces and the same great care as before. With more space available in the new building, we are going to be able to expand our services to care for more people. All of the services that were available in the MLK Avenue site will be available at the Sycamore Drive site plus many more!

When you arrive at the new location, you will be greeted by both patients and staff members who will help you to get to where your appointment is located in the building.

How to get there:

Metro:
It’s about a 5-minute walk from the Congress Heights Metro Station to the new MRC. Take the Green Line towards Branch Avenue to the Congress Heights Metro Station. Choose the escalator marked “Elevator, Parking, Buses, Arena.” Once at the top of the escalator, follow the sidewalk forward and continue as it curves around the parking lot. You’ll continue on the sidewalk and then walk through an iron gate. Make a left on Sycamore Drive SE. Your left on Sycamore will be just before the cherry blossom mural. If you reach the mural, you will have gone too far.

Bus:
The closest bus stop to the main entrance is at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and 12th Street SE. These bus lines service this stop: W1; W2; W3; W4

Additional bus routes stop two blocks away at the Congress Heights Metro: The lines that service the Congress Heights Metro stop are: V7; W2; W3; W4; D51; 92 and DC Circulator Congress Heights-Union Station line.

Bicycle:
Bike racks are available close to the main entrance.

Driving:
Our site is easily accessible from I-295, I-395, and the Capital Beltway. If you are using a navigator, enter “1201 Sycamore Drive SE, Washington, DC” as your destination.

Parking:
Metered street parking is available on the streets immediately surrounding the main entrance. The paid parking garage is not yet open, but will be available in the near future in the nearby Green Lot. To access the Green Lot, enter through Malcom X Ave SE and 8th Street SE (2915 8th Street SE).

Walking Directions from the former MLK site:
The walk from the 2301 Martin Luther King Jr Ave site to the new Max Robinson center is 1.6 miles and takes approximately 34 minutes. From the former site, turn right onto MLK Jr Avenue SE and walk 1.1 miles. Turn left onto Sycamore Street SE and walk 0.5 miles to the main entrance of the building.
