Dr. Stephen Abbott is the Medical Site Director of Whitman-Walker Health’s Max Robinson Center. He has been practicing as an Infectious Disease Physician since 2010, arriving at Whitman-Walker Health in 2016.  Stephen’s practice specializes in the care of persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH), HCV treatment, and anal dysplasia screening and treatment in PLWA. He has performed over 1500 anoscopies in PLWH.  He has served as a Principal Investigator on the National Institutes of Health and George Washington University’s DC Cohort Longitudinal HIV Study which aims to improve the quality of care and treatment of PLWH in DC.

Stephen is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Maryland Medical Systems (UMMS) and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at Georgetown University-Washington Hospital Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
