Krisztina Szabo serves as Director of Legal Services at Whitman-Walker Health. She supports a team of attorneys, paralegals, and interns who provide high-quality, compassionate, and client-centered legal care as part of Whitman Walker Health’s long standing medical-legal partnership. Her leadership advances the organization’s mission to improve health outcomes and promote health equity across the DC metropolitan region by addressing health-harming legal needs.
Krisztina has extensive experience in securing insurance coverage for medically necessary care, public and disability benefits, immigration relief, and affirming identity documents. Krisztina previously served as Assistant General Counsel at the DC Department of Health, providing legal and regulatory guidance on complex issues affecting healthcare facilities in the District. She also worked with Ayuda and the National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project, advocating for immigrant survivors of violence.
Krisztina earned her JD from the Charleston School of Law and an LLM in Law and Government from the American University Washington College of Law. In 2017, she was recognized as one of the “40 Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40” by the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. She is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars.
