My name is Esette and I am a Youth Psychotherapist at Whitman Walker Health in Youth Services. I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Washington University and am currently training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. In my role as a youth psychotherapist, I work with clients between the ages of 13 and 30 years old to provide individual and group therapies with a particular focus on caring for people with marginalized identities, including queer and/or trans people of color (QTPOC). My perspective involves creative, trauma informed interventions, which emphasize client needs, as well as advocating with and on behalf of clients. I collaborate with clients to create treatment plans which speak to clients’ expressed needs, as I view clients as experts in their own experiences. I strive to create spaces in which clients can bring their whole selves and be celebrated.
