Stand With Us

At the heart of Whitman-Walker, our mission is to ensure that every person knows that they are respected, supported, and safe in our care. For more than 50 years, Whitman-Walker has been a compassionate resource for our most underserved neighbors.

At a time when many in our community are facing challenges and attacks, our purpose remains clear: to be a Healthcare, Health Research and Policy home that sees the person first and treats every patient, client, and our community with dignity, respect, and love.

Now, we face a time when many in our community are faced with uncertain futures and the fear of attacks is widespread across our communities. The time has arrived for all of us to be visible and to stand up for our friends, neighbors, and each other.

At Whitman-Walker, we see community. We hear community. We need community. Whitman-Walker is community.

During times of great challenges, Whitman-Walker has always turned to our community for hope, inspiration, and support – and we need you now more than ever!

We invite you to STAND WITH US as we continue our fight for all people to live healthy, love openly, and achieve equity and inclusion.

Join Us as a Community Action Partner

At a time when many in our community are facing challenges and attacks, and when essential public health is threatened, it is time to be visible and stand up for our friends and neighbors.

We have already lost essential funding for research and HIV prevention. When the funding from the government was not there, the community always was, and we need you now more than ever before.

We are honored to share our initial list of Community Partners.

Do you own a local bar, restaurant, or other business? There is still time to join us.

03

Attend an event that benefits
Whitman-Walker

Whether a happy hour at your local bar, a drag brunch on a Saturday, a concert at a favorite venue, or an official event hosted by Whitman-Walker, attending an event is an easy and fun way to support our important work and stand up for some of our most underserved community members.

Whitman-Walker is grateful to our community partners who help us to raise vital funds for our important mission to ensure that all people are seen for who they are, treated with dignity and respect, and afforded equal opportunity to health and wellbeing.

Upcoming Community Partner Events:

September 20th

39th Annual Walk & 5K to End HIV

The Walk & 5K to End HIV is the largest and easiest way to partner with Whitman-Walker. Held for the last 39 years, the Walk symbolizes our commitment to finding a cure for HIV and to end the stigma surrounding HIV.

Whether creating a team, donating to a friend, or joining as a sponsor, the funds you help raise go directly towards WW’s mission of providing dependable, high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health care to those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

This fight will take the entire community’s support and commitment so strap on your shoes and join us in Anacostia Park!

POSTPONED until the Fall

Pride & Pulse Block Party

We are postponing the Pride & Pulse Block Party that was due to take place on June 28th.

Our dear friends at The Stratus Firm, Maydan and Medina have heard from many that this Saturday is not an ideal day (for a number of reasons) and encouraging them to postpone this fun fundraising event for Whitman-Walker until the fall.

Anyone who has already purchased tickets through Resy will receive a full refund.

Celebrating Pride and community are certainly not limited to just one month. We hope you can join us in the fall.

More details to come.

We so appreciate you all!

Every year Whitman-Walker hosts a variety of events to bring attention to our work in the community and help support our lifesaving programs.

MAY 8

Going the Extra Mile

Our annual benefit for Whitman-Walker’s Legal Services program. Every year, our Legal Services provides nearly 3,000 low-income clients with life-saving legal care, to keep them housed, healthy, and safe; and we do that with the generous support of our community.
