Community Health Educator
I came to Whitman-Walker Health in 1997 as a volunteer, and was hired as a full time employee in 2002. My interest in Whitman-Walker stems from my passion and desire to help people. In my role as a community health educator, I perform HIV counseling and testing at the Max Robinson Center, at 1525 Health Center and at mobile testing events. Additionally, I facilitate a six-week group level intervention called SHIELD (Self Help in Eliminating Life Threatening Diseases) to Whitman-Walker clients. SHIELD is designed to help our clients make healthier and safer choices in their lives. I am a native Washingtonian, and I received a Master of Human Services degree from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. My two dogs and I reside in the Petworth section of DC.
