My name is Nicole Armstead-Williams and I serve as a Psychotherapist at Whitman-Walker Health. I support medical patients in engaging, and remaining engaged, in behavioral health services. With patients, we discuss, determine, and decide upon the most appropriate level of therapeutic care for their individual care needs. I use my Georgia-southern roots to create a space of safety, strength, self-care, and solutions. This work was my mission when beginning my internship with Whitman-Walker Health in 2014. I received a master’s in social work from Howard University, where I focused my studies on depression and suicide prevention in black transgender/gender-expansive communities. I joined the Whitman-Walker team in 2015, and I am honored to continue this mission with change agents who share dedication in creating the highest quality of care for LGBTQ people, persons living with HIV, and other marginalized communities. My clinical interests include crisis intervention, trauma and strengths-based resiliency, and eco-therapy.
