HIV Medical Care (Red Carpet)

Red Carpet is Whitman-Walker Health’s way of connecting people living with HIV to medical care as smoothly as possible, whether you are transferring your HIV care from another facility, newly diagnosed, or seeking HIV medical care for the first time regardless of when or where you learned of your diagnosis.

If you have insurance, please call us at 202.745.7000. Our staff will let you know whether we participate in your plan and assist you in scheduling an appointment. If you prefer, you can also walk in to begin this process (see below).

If you do not have insurance, please walk in to 1525 14th St NW, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, 2nd floor, or Max Robinson Center, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm, and ask for “Red Carpet” – HIV does not need to be mentioned in any way. You will:

  • Meet with a Public Benefits and Insurance Navigator to screen you for insurance eligibility and help enroll you into programs for which you are eligible, or determine if you are eligible for care at a reduced fee on Whitman-Walker’s sliding fee scale.
  • Be scheduled to see medical provider who will evaluate you and order lab tests. This medical visit typically takes place within a few days. Some patients will also meet with a Nurse Care Manager or a Care Navigator on that first day to discuss any relevant medical history or answer questions about services and care at WWH.

Whitman-Walker understands that your medical care is extremely important, and we believe our high quality services will help you meet your health care goals and look forward to working with you. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your care.
