To increase patient access to care, Whitman-Walker Health has changed its appointment scheduling system. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first visit.

At first visit you will be asked to:

  • Complete any and all registration documents that were not previously completed. The forms can all be found here.
  • Provide a copy of your Health Insurance Card (if you have insurance)
  • Pay your co-payment (if applicable)
  • Provide a list of all medications and supplements that you are currently taking

If you do not have insurance, a Public Benefits and Insurance Navigator (phone number 202-745-6151) is available to meet with you. Please try to meet with the Public Benefits and Insurance Navigation team at least one business day before your first appointment so that you do not miss your appointment. Public Benefits and Insurance Navigator appointments are available on a walk-in, first-come, first-serve basis as follows:

8:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, at 1525 14th Street, NW (closed 12:00 – 3:00 pm on Thursday)

8:30 am- 5:30 pm Monday through Friday at Whitman-Walker WeWork Manhattan Laundry, 1342 Florida Ave, NW

9:00 am- 5:00 pm Monday through Friday at the Max Robinson Center

Payment Options

We accept many public and private insurance plans. If you have private insurance, you may have a co-pay. Co-pays are due at the time of service. If you don’t have private insurance, our Public Benefits and Insurance Navigation Team can help you identify coverage options. If you don’t qualify for insurance coverage, the Public Benefits Unit will assess your income for our sliding fee scale, which can help you get a discount on your care if you qualify.

We accept payment by check, credit card, debit card or cash. Payment is due at the time of service. If you receive an invoice for service rendered, payments may be made in person, by phone by calling 202-745-7000 or they may be mailed to:

No-Show Policy

If a new patient does not show for two new patient appointments, they will not be eligible to schedule another appointment in the department or service for one year.

If an existing patient misses two appointments within 90 days, they are not permitted to schedule an appointment in the service for which they did not show, and must walk in as early after 8am as possible Monday to Friday and request an appointment for the same day.  If they would like to schedule appointments again then they need to speak with a provider during the walk-in appointment.

To avoid being marked as a No Show, please cancel or re-schedule your appointment in advance. You may do so by:

  • cancelling when you listen to your appointment reminder,
  • calling the operator if you cannot make the appointment,
  • sending an e-mail or message through the patient portal, or
  • leaving a message for the operator.
