Let’s get you connected. The assessment and referral process is your point of entry for accessing behavioral health services. The assessment process helps us learn more about your current concerns, needs and behavioral health history, so that together we can develop a care plan to best meet your needs. Your care may include group therapy, substance misuse-focused individual or group therapy, psychiatry, peer-services, individual psychotherapy or other internal and external referrals.
Some behavioral health services are available only to current medical patients. Some services are open to both patients and non-patients. Individual psychotherapy and psychiatry have very limited availability. We often refer to other providers in the community for individual psychotherapy. See our behavioral health program information to learn more here.
If you are referred to one of our providers, they will contact you to set up your first session.
Current medical patients can learn more about behavioral health services and availability by requesting a consultation through your medical provider. Just let your medical provider know that you would like to speak with a Behavioral Health Specialist. The Behavioral Health Specialist will help determine the best next steps for connecting you to behavioral health care whether at Whitman-Walker or in the community. Each consult is about 30 minutes long and consists of a brief screening and referral ideas for behavioral health care.
