Medicaid is the healthcare program that pays for medical and behavioral health services (and in DC, dental services) for people who meet certain eligibility criteria. Eligible individuals are people who are low income and are US citizens or meet certain immigration requirements in addition to state residency.


Our Public Benefits and Insurance Navigation team can help you with Medicaid questions, and assist you to apply or renew for the program. Team members are available to meet with you through a video or audio call, or by appointment at one of our Whitman-Walker Health sites:


  • Whitman-Walker at 1525, 1525 14th Street NW
  • Whitman-Walker at LIZ, 1377 R St. NW
  • Max Robinson Center, 2301 Martin Luther King Jr., Ave., SE


Note: The Public Benefits and Insurance Navigation services are closed every Thursday from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at 1525 and LIZ.
