We're Moving into Liz,

Dear Whitman-Walker Family,

This month, Whitman-Walker’s public benefits and insurance navigation support, legal services, and research study visits will no longer be located at WeWork Manhattan Laundry at 1342 Florida Avenue, NW, or 1145 19th Street, NW. They will now be located at the completed LIZ building at 1377 R Street, NW, Suite 200. Additionally, acupuncture and nutrition services currently available at 1525 14th Street, NW, will move to LIZ and will no longer be available the at 1525 14th Street, NW location.

Whitman-Walker Services to be Available at LIZ:

  • Public Benefits and Insurance Navigation
  • Legal Services
  • Research
  • Acupuncture
  • Nutrition Services

In Preparation for the Move:

  • Legal Services and Public Benefits & Insurance Navigation at WeWork Manhattan Laundry will be closed Thursday, October 17 through Friday, October 18. Both of these services will open at LIZ at 1377 R Street, NW, Suite #200 on Monday, October 21.
  • Research at 1145 19th Street, NW will be closed Wednesday, October 16 through Monday, October 21. Research will open at LIZ at 1377 R Street, NW, Suite #200 on Tuesday, October 22.
  • Acupuncture services at 1525 14th Street, NW will close on Friday, October 18. Acupuncture services will open at Liz at 1377 R Street, NW, Suite #200 on Monday, October 21.
  • Nutrition services at 1525 14th Street, NW closing and move dates are being finalized and will be announced in the coming weeks.

During the move, all services currently operating at Whitman-Walker’s 1525 14th Street, NW health center, Max Robinson Center in Anacostia, and Youth Services location in Eastern Market – including any public benefits and insurance navigation services, legal services, acupuncture services or research study visits offered at those locations – will continue uninterrupted.

Liz is the former site of Whitman-Walker’s beloved Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center at 14th and R Streets, NW. From 1993 through 2017, the Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center housed Whitman-Walker’s northwest operations including primary medical care, dental services, behavioral health services, legal services, a pharmacy, administrative offices and more.

The redeveloped site to pays homage to the 20+ years of HIV and LGBTQ-focused advocacy and culturally inclusive care offered at the Elizabeth Taylor Medical Center.
