Whitman-Walker Health Welcomes Tiffany Gilliard as Chief External Affairs Officer

New Position Oversees Communications, Development and Community Relations

Washington, DC –Tiffany Gilliard has joined Whitman-Walker Health as its first Chief External Affairs Officer. In that position, she oversees WWH’s Communications, Development and Community Relations departments. She brings more than 20 years of diverse and extensive experience in strategic planning, direct sales, market positioning, stakeholder relations and new business development.

Most recently, Ms. Gilliard served as the Head of the Local Secretariat of the landmark XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012). She served as the primary liaison to the conference secretariat in Geneva, facilitating relationships with national and local government agencies, including the White House Office of National AIDS Policy, National Institutes of Health, Executive Office of the Mayor of Washington, D.C., and the Department of Health. She was also responsible for the management of 25 staff members representing seven different departments, a multi-million dollar budget, and day-to-day office operations. In addition, her leadership in this position resulted in the securing of more than half of the local fundraising goal, in collaboration with the development team.

Prior to her work with AIDS2012, Ms. Gilliard was the Director of Sales for Destination DC, the official convention and visitors’ bureau for Washington, D.C.  While at Destination DC, she managed the convention sales staff whose primary goal was to bring conventions and meetings to D.C.
