Legal Services: Special Events
Whitman-Walker Legal Services invites attorneys, law firms, corporations, law schools, legal associations and other community supporters to become involved in our special events dedicated to raising critical funds to support the services that we provide to protect our clients and people living with HIV/AIDS in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Every year we hold Going the Extra Mile, a cocktail reception and awards ceremony. Law firms, corporate law offices and law schools also raise money for Whitman-Walker Legal Services by participating in the annual AIDS Walk Washington. Both events provide opportunities to help us continue to provide desperately needed legal services for people living with HIV/AIDS, the LGBT community, and Whitman-Walker patients generally.
Going the Extra Mile is an annual reception and awards ceremony benefitting Whitman-Walker Legal Services. This year's event was held on Wednesday, June 4.
Almost 300 people came to the House of Sweden to celebrate the work of Whitman-Walker's Legal Services Program and to recognize The Honorable Donald B. Verrilli, Jr., Solicitor General of the United States; the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership at the George Washington University; and the law firm of Beveridge & Diamond PC.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors and Steering and Host Committees who helped us raise a record amount to support the work of Whitman-Walker Legal Services for the LGBT and HIV communities!
To get involved, please contact Legal Services Director Dan Bruner, 202.939.7628, e-mail or Legal Services Operations Manager Lee Brubaker, 202.939.7627, e-mail.
