The Mautner Project of Whitman-Walker Health is committed to improving the health of women who partner with women including lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, through primary medical care, support services, education and advocacy.

 

Education

  • Removing the Barriers and Removing the Barriers: Silver - training programs designed to educate and bring awareness to health care providers about lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LBT) health care needs.
  • Spirit Health Education (S.H.E.) Circle - A wellness community by and for African-American lesbian and bisexual women.
  • Making Our Vitality Evident (MOVE) - A weight loss/risk reduction program encouraging women to make healthier choices around nutrition, participate in purposeful movement and openly discuss issues related to weight.

Lesbian, Bi & Trans Survivors is a member-driven email support group for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women surviving serious illnesses. Join.

Lesbian, Bi & Trans Caregivers is a member-driven email support group for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women caring for loved ones with serious diseases or disabilities. Join.

Lesbian, Bi & Trans Bereavement is a member-driven email support group for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women grieving the loss of a loved one. Join.

All online groups are moderated by Mautner Project staff.

Phone Support
Mautner Project’s phone support program offers women the opportunity to speak with a trained volunteer who has “been there.” Our service offers free support and practical information over the phone at times that are convenient to you. Our phone support volunteers are available to talk about being a cancer survivor, cancer treatments or caring for someone with cancer.
