HIV and STD Testing and Counseling

No appointment is needed for HIV testing at Whitman-Walker. And, if a test is positive, we can begin medical care right away!

Confidential testing for HIV is offered to the general public at all of our sites. HIV testing is free of charge but donations are welcomed.

Whitman-Walker uses a rapid HIV test that delivers results in about 15 minutes.

STD testing (gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis) using a self-test kit is also available during select daytime hours at our health centers (see STD testing schedule below). Note that this is routine screening meant for patients who are not experiencing symptoms of sexually transmitted infections. Patients experiencing symptoms should either become a medical patient with us and make an appointment to see a provider or come to the Tuesday or Thursday evening Gay Men's Health and Wellness Clinic.
